Yesterday was the best day in a long time!

I haven't been around in a while. Life has been all over me like a mad grizzly for the past couple years. Dad in really bad health and been raising grandchildren for a couple years. Everyone has had days where you can't get anything right, but yesterday was one of those rare days where nothing...

    RIP

Plane crash pilot/sole occupant found dead. No clue what caused the crash, but he didn't make it more than a few miles from the airport. Plane crash.

    CloudDancer ultralight motorglider

Ran across this plane by chance watching some videos. Looks like production ended about 20 years ago. Anything like it in the homebuilt world? http://youtu.be/7l76Km_AhOc http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/US_Aviation_Cloud_Dancer

World War I Dawn Patrol Rendezvous

Is anyone here planning to be at the Air Force museum in Dayton next month? I'll be going there with the mens retreat from church.

    Got 5 minutes to waste?

Probably the safest ultralight ever built. http://youtu.be/87lalFUzMi8

Maybe enough to power a GOAT glider???

I have no idea what this engine is for. It a 4HP Honda with a 6:1 gear box.

Started my first project, well sort of.

Building a Super Cub model. Balsa wood frame with doped tissue covering. Most of the kitchen table covered with little strips of balsa wood. Started gluing the right wing.

Interesting read about the early days.

I never knew there were giant concrete arrows across America.

I love motorcycles and planes so I had to share this!

I don't know who built it, owns it, or the person that posted it, but it's different. Unusual vehicle.

Witnessed something today I've never seen before.

I was at a job site on Fort Jackson this morning when I heard a plane flying over. As usual I looked up to see what it was. It was a small high wing single engine plane that I'm not sure of the type as I couldn't see it for a building until it was going away from me. I went about what I was...

I guess buyers would have to ignore FAR part 103 rules?

Claims it's ultralight no license required. Okay probably correct. Other claims like takeoff from the street in front of your house and fly to work? Hope people check the law before trying this. http://youtu.be/LAveOB_QoBE

    Rivet guns?

I've never used a rivet gun, but it looks like my air hammer. Can I buy the sets and bucking bars to use with my air hammer? This would save me at least $100.

    Anyone tried scooter engines?

These engines are available from 50cc to over 600cc. Some are air cooled some are liquid cooled. All of them that I have been around use some type of variable ratio belt drive so there is no gear box to get rid of. Some of the larger ones are 4 stroke and generate 40-50 or more hp. The Honda...

    Balance question

Planning to build a Texas Parasol ultralight. I have considered making this a joint project with my brother. The problem is that I am small 5'8" 140lbs and he is 5'11" 190lbs. I'm thinking position the seat for my larger brother and use cushion to get me in reach of the controls. Will the 50lbs...

Been reading here for a while joined a couple days ago.

There is going to be a project, but it's going to be slow! I have always been fascinated with airplanes especially homebuilt. A multi million or multi billion dollar corporation building a plane that flies well is really not that big of a deal, but someone that can do it at home in a garage is...
