These engines are available from 50cc to over 600cc. Some are air cooled some are liquid cooled. All of them that I have been around use some type of variable ratio belt drive so there is no gear box to get rid of. Some of the larger ones are 4 stroke and generate 40-50 or more hp.
The Honda Silverwing 600 claims 49 hp. I've seen several scooters wrecked sell for a few hundred dollars. :ponder:
