Where do I start?

I don't have the money right now to start taking flying lessons to get a sport pilot license. However I do have the time to start educating myself on the different types of airplanes and what the specifications of these planes actually mean to a pilot.

So... where do I start?

Are there any good books? magazines? you get the idea I am sure.

I just want to make an extremely well educated decision when it comes time to order plans/kits.

Just looking for a good place to start. I sorta know what I am expecting out of the plane. But just want to know all of my options before I jump in head first on building an airplane.
