I am looking at a design that has a load factor of +5.5 with a max gross weight of 1100. Is it acceptable to trade load factor for weight without redesigning the wing? At it's very core I would think if a wing could handle 5.5x1100=6050 then the same wing could also handle 4.5x1300=5850. Doing the same for the negative load I could then use the new numbers as a utility category. I know the gear would need to be examined. Is there anything I am missing or how far off base am I?
