I'd like to rig a towbar that attaches to my tailwheel so I can tow my plane without the need of a trailer. Here are the concerns that come to mind.

  • Have to fabricate removable 'mounts' for the wings where they rest on the landing gear and the stabilizer.
  • The wheels may need different, stronger bearings. The current ones look better suited to very light duty, like landing and takeoff rather than prolonged use.
  • State law would require brake and signal lights as well. These could be part of the forward wing rack assembly.
Thoughts? Ideas? Does anyone else tow their plane this way?

TIA

Larry
