Diesel Auto Conversions in 250-300 HP

A procedure has been posted on Baja Bush pilots on Sept 15. Some of the members are going through the procedure, but it seems to be moving slow. I have not seen any forum members post success in the process yet, but Jack has confirmed the procedure. If you are interested in flying to Mexico...

Diesel Auto Conversions in 250-300 HP

I am willing to pump Mogas (in fact that's my plan), but I would love to build a plane that I could fly anywhere knowing that there will be fuel on the other end. According to Baja Bush Pilots there is a new process to fly an experimental into Mexico. Seeing as I have not even started...

    Azalea Saberwing

I'm particularly interested in ELSA for the ability to have multiple repairman certificates. What is the empty weight and gross weight of the Aeromomentum plane?

Diesel Auto Conversions in 250-300 HP

When I mentioned that low-compression, it was mostly to contrast with what I view as the alternative. My primary concern is cost and availability of AvGas (especially if I fly out of the US), so the 260hp O-540 is my primary consideration because I know it can run on Mogas. But Mogas isn't...

@Bill Clapp, did you pursue an SLSA/ELSA version of the 2 seater?

    Azalea Saberwing

Look into this incident before you judge the plane on it. The plane that failed was modified outside the original design. I am not an aeronautical engineer but, my research suggested the airframe design is a well thought out evolution of the KR-2. I decided not to pursue building one because...

Diesel Auto Conversions in 250-300 HP

Are there any Diesel/Jet-A auto conversions that are in active use or development? Ideally I am looking for an O-540 (low compression) alternative.

Single strut or Cantilever Folding High wing designs

The drag’n’fly is a tailwind with flaperons and a folding wing. I would like to see the design drawing for the wing fold mechanism, because that is not stock tailwind.

Single strut or Cantilever Folding High wing designs

The Drag'N'Fly is for sale in Washington right now, I wish I could buy it but I am not in the position to take on the project at the moment. If nothing else, I would love to get my hands on the design drawings (or use the plane to make my own).

Single strut or Cantilever Folding High wing designs

I like that folding mechanism, I will need to do some research into it. As for the trailer. I have plans for a custom trailer to deal with the suspension issues (and a couple other things I want in a hangar-trailer).

Single strut or Cantilever Folding High wing designs

Full disclosure, I started that thread too. I like the T-18, but I know I want to build an airplane and I don't know if I will ever build another. So, my plan is for the first plane I build to be the last plane I fly. Although I am in my 30s and had no problem getting in and out of my Yankee...

Single strut or Cantilever Folding High wing designs

My job has resulted in living in 4 cities in 3 states in the last 3 years. Even if I can get a hangar now, I cannot take for granted that I will have access to one forever, so I would like to be able to replicate this: Just with something faster than a Kitfox. Having said that, my current...

Single strut or Cantilever Folding High wing designs

That's my fall back plan, but after years of trying and failing to get a hangar, my goal is to be able to store it in a trailer after every flight and unfold it as part of my preflight.

Single strut or Cantilever Folding High wing designs

Does the Cougar have a folding wing option? This concept is inspired by the Wittman Tailwind, and I was under the impression that none of the Tailwind derivatives have a folding wing option.

Single strut or Cantilever Folding High wing designs

I am working on a fixed gear high wing cross country airplane. My goal is an ownership experience similar to a Kitfox, with a mission profile closer to a 2 seat Mooney M20. I am thinking about the wing design, and I would like to have higher wing loading, low drag, and a option to store it in...

Which plane should I buy for time building? Second owner homebuilt edition

I am working toward CFI, but I am not there yet. Once complete, I plan to do training and checkouts with my club. I am also hoping to seasonally tow banners if I can schedule it around my day job. But I'm not in a position to walk away from my job unless I am building the kind of valuable...

Which plane should I buy for time building? Second owner homebuilt edition

Ideally yes, but Part 135 PIC and ATP only require 75 hours instrument, so if I buy for 80% of my requirements and rent for the rest, it I can do most of my time building VFR. Buying something IFR ready will likely blow my budget.

Which plane should I buy for time building? Second owner homebuilt edition

A plane like yours started me down this rabbit hole, the biggest hesitation I have buying a Sonex is the factory position on second ownership and the difficulty finding a good one in my budget.

Which plane should I buy for time building? Second owner homebuilt edition

I really like the Sonex as a single seat, but so far the only one in my price range had dual sticks and I don't have a workspace to do a center stick conversion. (Also, it was trigear and I would prefer a taildragger, but that is a flexible detail). I really like the Waiex, but those are even...

Which plane should I buy for time building? Second owner homebuilt edition

I'm looking to build time toward a part 135 or 121 job. Eventually, I plan to build my own airplane, but thats not in the cards. On many forums, if anyone suggests buying a homebuilt, the responses tend to range from "You are going to kill yourself" to "Anything other than an RV is not worth...
