Low aspect ratio sport plane ideas

Would love to understand why the central bottom section looks like an inverted airfoil. Bart is really innovative

Low aspect ratio sport plane ideas

That paper is great, thanks. Personally i consider a max CL of 1,65 excellent for an inverted zimmerman, knowing that no stall is possible. That max cl can really be squeezed out and is a practical max cl, not one where i have to forgive the last 20% in order to avoid a potential stall. Such a...

Low aspect ratio sport plane ideas

Would be nice to test a leading edge that is round in cruise and sharp at approach. Some sort of moving wedge that splits the leading edge. Wonder if the allround envelope would improve.

    800cc aircraft engine

Can that engine be mounted in a tilted attitude or has it to be upright? If it is injected, are you injecting the gasoline oil mixture?

The retract system of the verhees is reasonably simple and folds onto itself to fit between the legs, but the plans are copyright protected. Still doesnt know if its practical to use a retract on a single long gear leg. Someday i need to calculate the additional weight of that retract system

EAA No Longer Has Free SolidWorks

over the years i just have changed too many times the cad software i use, and at the end, i am not really profeccient in any of the cad offerings. The one i liked most was catia, but maybe because at that time i was young and had a fresh head, or maybe because a licence costs above 50000 bucks...

EAA No Longer Has Free SolidWorks

There are a million easy youtube tutorials about doing worthless cfd on 3d wings in ansys, openfoam and freecad, But not a single one that calculates the spanwise lift distribution. At the end its just integrating forces on discrete panels along the wing, but if you arent proficcient its a...

How to hinge and seal a elevon in a very thick airfoil of a ultralight

I wonder if a frise aileron would be beneficial on tailless airplanes. Also in case of vortex flying mode (high angle of attack) a frise elevon in large cord wings should be more responsive. On my rc prototype i will test a two segment differential frise elevon. differential frise elevon is a...

    Heat Distortion and Post Curing

MGS L285 is not a resin design for infusion as it has too much viscosity. I used to like the Sicomin resins for infusion and they have friendly postcure temperatures.

    Shapes of pontoons.

What was intriguing in the seagull, was how to achieve the transition from floating on the hull to planning on the skies. The hull looked like uncapable of planning.

    Shapes of pontoons.

rocker is the tip curve, scoop is the rear part of the curve. In rough sea, you want enough rocker not to nail the waves. Bad thing much rocker retards planing The scoop has to be straight in order to facilitate early planning (end at the step). No curve there. The edges of the pontoon razor...

Sharp corners and concaves improve the early planning ability aswell as cutoff tails. Thats another reason for the step.
