What pitch to use on a 582 3 blade 68" Kiev 2.58 gearbox

I got the engine running today. The wooden propeller from the 532 wouldn't fit, so I started off with my new 68" Kiev three blade propeller. The instructions said that the starting point for a 582 should be 11-14, so I set it at 12. The old 532 Tachometer seems wildly off, so I have connected...

    Swift vs Westach dual EGT

Anyone have any opinions on the swift dual EGT and probes? My Westach had one probe die and during troubleshooting half of the gauge died. I can get a new Swift gauge and probes for just over $100, but the Westach is over $200. Opinions on either or both? TIA

    Matco 8" tailwheel height

Anyone know that the height of the 8" single yoke tailwheel height is from the ground to the bottom of the spring? The drawings only show me the height from the ground to the top of the bolt, which I am only moderately concerned with. Coming from a 5" tailwheel with a reasonable low profile...

My newly acquired aircraft, an Avid Model B, has a Second Chantz BRS installed that is rated for 900lbs; I could not find a date on the device, but I would presume that it would need a new rocket motor and re-pack. Since this device obviously has some pretty nasty pyro in it, I just thought I...

    Avid Flyer B model documentation

I recently acquired a 1989 Avid Flyer B model without logs. I am trying to find any build manuals / documentation for this aircraft so that I can get it back into the air. If anyone might have a lead on the logs or additional information about the aircraft, the N number is N300TG. Anyone have...

Avid Flyer B model with old 503

I recently acquired an Avid Flyer B model with no logs and a single ignition, water cooled 503 with an estimated 230 hours on it. The aircraft was built in 1989. I am guessing this is one of the early conversions and with no logs, I can't say that I trust it. Additionally, I am guessing that...
