    Question 6061 vs 2024

The question was a simple one, some of you gave very informative and insightful info... however, why do some people feel the urge to attack the individual, or, give answers that have no insightful, informative, or helpful information? I do understand that i am "new" to the airplane world...

    Question 6061 vs 2024

I am in the process of putting all the info together for my sctach build on a sonex. The plans call for 6061, which is obviously just fine....however, seeing as how 2024 has a higher sheer and tensile strength for extremely minimal sacrific in weight... (i believe 2.75g/cc vs 2.90g/cc), what do...

    My Sonex build

Hello all, Im starting my sonex build log. This will more than likely be a slow build until next year. Got a few other projects that need to be finished up before i really start into this build heavy. Current progress: Started drawing .dxf files for the tail horizontal stabilizer assembly...

    New to the airplane world!

That is understood. Not trying to be build a race engine... and, ya'll are probably right... not going to say im correct by any means. If i was stuck in that mindset, i would have never accomplished what i have in life. But, i will not also get stuck in analysis paralysis either. First engine...

    New to the airplane world!

    New to the airplane world!

Timing, appropriate dynamic compression, extra oil cooling and using ALL the tin work. VWs are actully quite good at cooling themselves...if...AND ONLY IF, all the tinwork is used and appropriately placed. RetardedTiming and a lean burn together will explode one of these little things...

    New to the airplane world!

Hey, thanks for all that info! I have been reading on that the speed of props and such. I do understand the concept of needing as much torque and such as possible close to 3500. Dynamic compression, static compression, ignition amd cam timing all play a pretty hefty role in achiving all that...

    New to the airplane world!

That was actually my original thought, i havent gotten a ride specificaly yet in a sonex, but, i have done alot of research and been to a few air shows and checked out planes... some of the owners did let me sit in their plans...which i thought was pretty awesome, but, im also a small guy, so...
