    Building a VW Aero-Engine

Lynn. I to will need a new Vw engine for my T-mono but the fact that there are other options in powerplants has had me dive into some hard research and prices checking. The T-mono flew with a 38 hp engine so 60 hp sounds to be a good beginning in studies. Those larger V twins could be a good...

    KR2 and Taylormono plane

Wow firewall forward. It sure is wide open on what way to go. VW like pops best? V Twin at 60 hp? Weight and balance should be the first thought. They say lighter the better but what about prop? Yep still making it happen. Guess what boys still fun "go figger"

    KR2 and Taylormono plane

Hello all. Did I give up? NO way but at times I wonder why this is taking so darn long. As I said in my last post it's time to get the plane outside and that is one more time eater that most builders don't think of. For those of you who want to build out of wood with a plane that has continuous...

Weather this morning for skis ?

Here are those skis Pops. Says they are Federal brand $700.00. I'm sure the rust is free of charge. 😆 Lets just bolt some wings to this thing on the same Craigs list aviation posting and we will be good for all climates.

Weather this morning for skis ?

Craigs list in Grand Forks N.D. has some skis listed that would look good on one of your planes Dan. Strange winter this year in N.D. very little snow and temps in the low 40's next week. Stuff keeps dropping in the lakes due to thin ice on Devils Lake. Heck even a plane a few weeks ago.

    KR2 and Taylormono plane

Would love to say "Guys I have the plane done" but no such luck in that regards. The only good news is I have been keeping steady on the build and have come to the point it must be moved out of the basement this spring to get the wings mounted. On a positive note, I've had plenty of time to...

    Sealing wood question

The wood will never be sealed by any product of glue if the finial covering is not done properly. Billski are you having a bad day? Moderator should focus on threads that are posted that have no connection to aircraft building and try to eliminate those. IMO

    Sealing wood question

I see much talk of glue and Epoxy types to seal wood but Nothing yet of the covering job after the wood has been sealed. I'm not aware of all types of all wood aircraft but the Taylor-monoplane is covered 100% with fabric as of one of the last steps of the build. I have the opinion that the...

Airplane For Sale SOLD: Estate Sale: 1981 Christen/Aviat Eagle II

My rabbit is yellow if I'm drinking Bud but gets rather blue if I'm sipping Bush light. If not, a spam add then I think the seller forgot a zero on the price.

    Veterans Day 2023

I was out in my yard and trying to decide what flag was best to fly? USMC colors or the POW- MIA or just the good old red, white and blue. as a Marine vet I chose to fly all the flags on this day with extra pride of the Marine Corps colors, but my thoughts kept drifting to the POW-MIA banner and...

    Jimmy goes to Vans.

"Kit" built airplane. I couldn't imagine how nice that would be to build compared to a scratch-built plane with prints older than I. No wonder it is taking me so darn long for my Taylor-monoplane.

Contenders for National Championship Air Races from 2025

Spending time during high school years and beyond in Carson City NV. I lost track of how many times I went to the air races. But I can say I will miss them dearly along with the hours spent out in the desert near the course hanging with my friends and sharing the thrill of the big power and...

Contenders for National Championship Air Races from 2025

I can see a few ways to make air racing more fun and competitive. For instance, say you had a class of 235 hp Piper Pawnees hauling 100 gallons of water/chemical racing in a row-by-row field pattern not only would pilot skills be tested in the turns but also the loading crew of the aircraft much...

Contenders for National Championship Air Races from 2025

I think a race around or near Minot AFB in North Dakota would be a good Canidate due to cool weather conditions for flight and plenty of wide-open spaces. There is a casino not too far away and plenty of lodging and not a mountain in sight. IMO
