True cost of experimental vs Certified

Great Thread! Here's a page I found at some point doing some engine cost analysis: http://www.ultralightnews.ca/articles/912vs582.html It's dated, but its definitely played into my decision making process.

Building in a tiny workshop? (Zenith 750)

Also, One thing I learned (the hard way). It's really easy to make stupid mistakes when you can't open all your plans fully to study them and plan the next move. Fortunately the Zenith plans are a convenient size but I ended up making a major mistake in my wing ribs due to an oversight on the...

Building in a tiny workshop? (Zenith 750)

Now here's a topic where I have some expertise! I started a Zenith ch750 in the kitchenette of my 1 BR apt. Built the rudder and stab. Moved to another apt with my wife that had a 4x12 storage room. Not enough to build a fuselage or wing, So I did the next logical thing: I started building all...

    2 place wooden plans built

Funny, the youngster got started when my CH750, and its neatly bound manual got pushed to the back burner. Or, rather, I ran out of room to build any of the bigger pieces and figured the next logical thing to do was start the small parts of another plane. And I couldn't resist getting a set of...

    2 place wooden plans built

I've finished all of my Youngster V ribs and am partly into the spars and Tail... I was pretty unimpressed with the "builder's manual" I got... About 5 sheets of paper and a somewhat cryptic materials list.... Perhaps you got something else?? The plans are pretty easy to follow but take some...

    Uhg.. I'm the worst!

How about a Fisher? Single place airplane kits are <10K and you can prob scratch build for around 5-6K. Top speeds are more around 90mph, but they have lots of models.

    Getting current.

Have you considered the FAA Wings program? Lots of free, very good modules on everything you need from Airspace to takeoffs and landings. The ASA oral exam guides are nice too for quick, bullet-point review.
