Copyrights, patents and another aviation evolution problems...Any Solutions?

I think that Hot Wings did a good recapitulation, and I use Linux and OpenOffice too. The question was more...how can you protect your designs from the others? I'm sure that Norman misunderstood my post or I developed this issue not good. I repeat, this is what I mean and what I wanted to...

Copyrights, patents and another aviation evolution problems...Any Solutions?

Hello Autoreply, this is exactly what I mean and I can understand (a good example, myself!). But it's not so good for the aviation evolution I think. As I said, with this Creative Commons license, you can share something and when another person use it, you have many options. So.. What can we...

Copyrights, patents and another aviation evolution problems...Any Solutions?

Hi people, In my opinion, the secrets, copyrights and the fear to show something new go against aviation evolution. I don't want to enlarge this discusion with questions, only with answers. I really think that when we contrast our experience (like this forum), then we can improve our airplanes...

    My Design & Construction

GESchwarz a very good job! The airplane design and alu parts look great. Two questions :) - I didn't see any corrosion coating. Which type of corrosion protection do you want to use? - Playing with C.G. and Neutral Point you can stablish the wing position, but without neutral position...

Mr. Lednicer about Riblett airfoils, and questions

Hi all! I discover an opened letter about Mr. Riblett. (link: Riblett airfoils (Walter Lounsbery, David Lednicer, "highflyer")) It's interesting, but I don't understand the point 2, why the induced drag doesn't depend from the airfoil? Maybe because the induced drag is the lift-generated drag...

Cruise speed: Balanced Speed or CL/CD max speed?

Hi again! H.Evan'sRV7A, the airfoils are laminar (red line 65-215 and green line 747A315). The maximum point (in my example in 70 m/s) is corresponding to the lowest Drag. Of course, I want to have the lowest Drag with Vcruise (for example, 100 m/s in graphic). In drag equation: D=0.5 * Cd *...

Cruise speed: Balanced Speed or CL/CD max speed?

How can I obtain a horizontal movement for the graphic CL/CD vs V m/s and reach my desired V? Change the profile is the only way that I can understand...

Cruise speed: Balanced Speed or CL/CD max speed?

Thank you guys. The point is to know if I want the best Range or best endurance. The best endurance is for the lowest Cd. And Range? Range is for L/D max, ok. Now... I have 2 graphics. I want to achieve the best Range. a) Cm vs V . The curve cross the Cm=0 in 80 m/s. My airplane is trimmed...

Cruise speed: Balanced Speed or CL/CD max speed?

I read that the aircraft should be designed so that it flies the design mission at or near the design lift coefficient to maximize the aerodynamic efficiency -> speed in airplane graphic CL/CD vs Velocity peak. Right?

Cruise speed: Balanced Speed or CL/CD max speed?

Hello people I'm trying to clear my ideas, but after working on it hours and hours, I can't clear my mind now! My airplane is optimize for the Cruise stage. using XFLR5 (very good program) I obtained the performance. I have a Balanced speed in 80 m/s and CL/CD max point in v=50m/s (loiter)...

    Free Airfoil Design Software

Hi people! How much is reliable the XFLR5 for our scale? The Re num are differents and in program Guideline stays: The code has been intended and written exclusively for the design of model sailplanes, for which it gives reasonable and consistent results. The code's use for all other purpose...

    Auto Motor: Aerobatic capable?

Thank you for the good explanation guys! :)

    Free Airfoil Design Software

XFLR5 can define and plot the Dynamic Stability! When I'm right, AVL cannot define the phugoid (or I didn't find it! :) ) Is this right? On the other Hand....I see that XFLR5 doesn't define very well the stall moment. Why? It's defined from XFOIL, and this has less problems to define it.

    Auto Motor: Aerobatic capable?

Hi all, 1.- I read that the Wankel motor can be used in aerobatic flight, is this right? why? 2.- Which changes would be made to do a 4 strokes motor able to fly aerobatic maneouvers? Thx!

    Wing Root Leading Edge Sweep

With this Sweep (Cherokee example), it's possible to perform like a little LERX? So the vortex generated helps the flow stay attached? Or there is not enough sweep?

Clmax on same airfoil and wing geometry on heavier aircraft has lower value, why?

Ok, but which conditions? sea level or CS 23.45 conditions? Why?

Clmax on same airfoil and wing geometry on heavier aircraft has lower value, why?

Denis, I'm sure that your knowledge in flight tests are better than mine, but I search what you said and I don't find it. I read the CS-23 book 1 (CS-23 Amendment 2(corrigendum).pdf) Point CS 23.45 Performances (General) says: (a) Unless otherwise prescribed, the performance requirements of...

Clmax on same airfoil and wing geometry on heavier aircraft has lower value, why?

But the airplane must met the certification, so the V0 stall speed must be reached at 10.000ft and 30°+ standard temp. Is this right Denis? The corrected airspeed is referred to ISA, ok, but the certification must be met. So...Vstall speed at sea level < max. Vstall speed to certificate the...

Clmax on same airfoil and wing geometry on heavier aircraft has lower value, why?

Yes, you are right. But when you calculate the airplane performances with the sea level conditions (in this case CL max) the minimum stall speed will not be reached in the other cases. So in the charts, the critical point is when the conditions are the worst. Then you can calculate the CL, and...

Clmax on same airfoil and wing geometry on heavier aircraft has lower value, why?

Hi people! Nobody talks about the density!? I saw that rho=1,225 Kg/m^3 is used for the Clmax calculations. And what's going on when the airfield altitude is 5000ft and we have a wonderful sunny day?!? I don't know with UL class, but with CS-23, "the performance requirements must be met for...
