Geschwender PSRU and aluminum v8 for sale

I have a Geschwender drive unit for a Chevrolet for sale $5500 obo, about 100 hours on it. Also a new (never started) L92 Aluminum 6.2L V8 crate engine $4700 obo. The L92 is factory rated at 403hp and is still on the crate from GM. [email protected] Olen Goodwin

    LS2 PSRU?

Any PSRU for the small block Chevy will fit the LS engines. The only changes required are that the bolt pattern to attach the flywheel to the crank is different and a spacer of approximately 3/8" between the crank flange and the flywheel is required on certain engines.

    Wood substitutes

Possibly (probably?) nobody is interested, but Poplar and Cottonwood are different trees...related, but different. The name comes from the "cotton" that carries the seeds. Poplar, Aspen, Birch, Cottonwood are related and all weak, soft wood. Not even good firewood, but attractive trees...

    p51 tail section

Hi Stew, you're right. The SAL tail is pretty much oversized in all dimensions. > > I think I moved the windshield back about 50mm. This was as much as I could get away with without being obvious. I wanted to simply move the pilot seat forward, but no leg room in the single seater. I've...

Actually, as shown on the plans, they ARE taller. The plans tail is several inches too tall for scale.

    Supercharger drives

My apologies...I missed the operative word "aircraft" engine. I assumed you were speaking of an auto conversion, which needs to turn quite a bit more than 2700 to be efficient. I agree, probably it would be somewhat harder to use the centrifugal setup at that low an rpm. I think on a auto...

    Supercharger drives

Why not use the drive setup that comes with the supercharger? Paxton made centrifugal superchargers starting in the '50s and ever since with a belt drive. Is there some reason that this wouldn't work? I think they will work with lots less than 50,000 rpm, since they make boost on cars at fairly...

Time to rewrite the air combat handbook

You probably are the only one. Soviet sounding??? Unfortunately, the most beautiful and capable aircraft have always been fighters...Spitfire, Mustang, Sabre, MiG21....

    Got screwed today

I'm not going to beat this to death, but one point: you don't have to prove it unless in court. If you feel it was purposful, you are justified in making them as uncomfortable as necessary to get your money back (if it comes to that...I hope the inspection turns out OK and the whole thing blows...

    Why are pilots such idiots?

What does Beech say about jumping up and down on the tip (of the spar, if it makes you feel better)? Are you seriously trying to justify that? If so, I'll bet you can't find even ONE of your customers that would agree with you. By the way, I doubt he was jumping on the spar to the exclusion of...

    Why are pilots such idiots?

Excellent points, Bruce. You beat me to it. Easily visualized this way: Try jacking the Kingair up with two jacks, one at each wing tip. Doesn't sound good does it? Also, the wing is designed to carry more load under positive G than negative. Unless the airplane was upside down, the gorilla...

    Got screwed today

I must be missing something...didn't these guys purposfully leave out the prop strike? Doesn't that indicate pretty strongly that they're trying to unload this engine, which may or may not be of any use at all to you? Are they not taking your money, which is definitely of use to them? If...

    Why are pilots such idiots?

What you mean is, you don't think the airplane was damaged. That guy should get into a different line of work.

Time to rewrite the air combat handbook

Yes, but a manned F-86 can outturn an F4...and almost anything else up to the F-16. It just can't get away from it. The MiG 17s in Vietnam could do the same thing, so the smart guys in F-4s didn't try to turn very far with them.

    Chevrolet engines

I think Robinson is using a constant speed prop, so at 3300 rpm he's probably not using full throttle, or if he is it's at high altitude and the manifold pressure would be low....either way, he'd be producing lots less than 200 hp. That would make the 10 gph more likely. Anyway, I think the...

    How do I duplicate a non-servicable cowl?

Right, the packing tape looks like heavy scotch tape. I found the heavy "Storage Tape" by Scotch works well. It's heavy enough that it doesn't tend to trap air bubbles and stretchy enough to go over curves and lay flat. BID is bi directional fabric, strong in both directions, as opposed to...

    How do I duplicate a non-servicable cowl?

One way would be to completely cover the old cowling with a tape that epoxy won't stick to, then just cover it with fiberglass (the new cowl.) This would cause the new cowling to be very slightly oversize, but if it's curved and split (top and bottom, or left and right) it should snug down...

    Why are warbirds classified experimental?

I'm not sure life is long enough for one person to build a P-51A from scratch....;) Olen

    Why are warbirds classified experimental?

A lot depends on the FAA office and individual issuing the restrictions. I've found by talking to owners of some of these airplanes that often the "radius" is so large that basically they can go anywhere in the US. I suspect it also depends on the perceived reliability and safety of the type...
