Crashes in the News - Thread

This is quite also a reason to have a pyro chute at the airframe of the bird. No worries to have, just the red handle. But when builder or operating a plane .. you see people want to save 1-2$ every where and even on bolt.. well.

Shock absorbers for 80% replica AVIA B-534

There is a place in Italy, just quickly, and they do oleo and custom size, perhaps around 3-4k. Depend on your budget.

    1/2 scale warbirds

Funny read.. Do 1 true hard landing and you will understand for very long time: that not having proper seat and space foam is something that is mandatory. safety first. But anyway, no chute in most plane as well, but should also be like the second item in the design.

    Lancair International ?

These kit must be very very old.. Es, isp, evolution are all been the proper kit.

EarthX Lithium Batteries reaches new heights!

Sure, same as reading the book and looking at fuel selector and any kind of switch position. Yet, the #1 cause of crash are fuel being off at takeoff.

Pipistrel to Market Its Electric Power Unit to [Home] Builders and Developers

At least we got a future with true man doing the proper work as : a Tesla with a V8 that can cross the whole country in no time. Like ask those in Texas who get no electricity for days in winter.. They don't get juice and heat from the hipster in their e-car.. but with real truck burning fuel.

Pipistrel to Market Its Electric Power Unit to [Home] Builders and Developers

As a post in previous page about the price of it and life.. You have to understand, it's nice to tell everyone that you are green and you can recharge .. via the coal plant. In fact, you will swap about 2.4 batt kit before the rotax912 get kill. And you will also see the buying the pip batt kit...

    $10 gallon Avgas

While it's quite true and part of the large picture too.. Barel trend is simply to hit 143$ and all plastic and even clothes will not disappear, as all is made with gaz. On the aviation side, the almost only option to fly green to show off and tell you are green are the pipistrel electro. By...

    Ducted fan aircraft

All the build of the prototype was nicely made and it was complete and it fly. Very nice to read a kit is also available. Don't read too much thoses of who don't like other design as they probably don't even fly anything else than cessna from the flight school. It's also way better than having...

    The Antonov 225 is no more . . . .

Anyway, if you follow the media you already know this is fake news because Russian news can't be autorized and RT was shut down. Not Aljerraza with all happen during last 20yrs. Anyway, pleny of Antonov as 2 were in Poland unloading french military truk.

Why battery-powered aircraft will never have significant range

Overall it's quite a joke. Can you cross the ocean in a piper J3 ? It's so bad, this don't have any significant range. So quite the same... the definition of Mission. All new tech are still in lab and they are about 5 diff style. so the chemistry now and in 4-5 yrs will be quite diff. Same as...

    Ducted Fan Pseudo-Jets

People need to also remember, if you park a Ferrarri in the street.. the speed limit, we don't care and all do see a nice <Ferrari> even if it<s a fake one. At least they fly with it.

    Ducted Fan Pseudo-Jets

Duct are not the worst to make noise.. indeed a pulso jet is the king. But an efficient ductfan need to turn high rev and that is uber unpleasant. But all in all, with a 13in you can take off with a silent. But again, it's the mission, going up to 2k is plenty, doing a 1hr flight.. quite a...

    Electric Four Seat

As you mention : 'limited range' this is only true like for now, there about 5 different chemistry in the lab and while the fast charge of 80% in 10min were announce 5yrs ago, now it's quite there. It's all about your mission. You need to fly 500nm away, like 1 time per 5yrs and most flight are...

Why are C150s (and other trainers/entry level planes) suddenly so expensive??

Why go with old stuff that you have to buy certified everything ? A pipistrel and other new bird can be get for about 60k. The performance will be night and day and on fuel, it<s quite like driving a smart car fuel consumption vs a Ford F-350.

Forget electric flight propulsion for a minute. Electric *taxiing*???

I was looking for towing in electric too, but while the concept of having oil being cold.. defeat the purpose. A whole airbase dedicated for electric is quite the way, but mean some investment and overall, less and less plane are flying.. so not that super..

What do you think about "e-soaring"?

Can't agree more ! The Excel and the Choucas are very nice one. And the Excel in hydrogren and E was look into 17yrs ago. *On the black paint, it was a vari-ez build near TX i think about 7yrs ago and fully paint in black. So yes, it's real, just as mention.. But i think i could seat in it in...

What do you think about "e-soaring"?

Indeed, vinylester resin is bit less used, as for mostly same price your get higher modulus and strenght directly with epoxy. But all in all, for a mid term or very short term bird life, even Lepage white glue can make an airplane. It's about max load and proper design. Same as to paint the bird...

    Painting with latex house paint

The weight aspect is way too look at. People don't build sport e-racer, just having something to fly. We see one who build a jodel and he even haven't properly sand the wing and apply cheap house paint over it. Yes it fly and we just smile to see that. If someone spend like 2-4 yrs to build a...

"Beast One" - the next generation Microjet

Most of those come with a nice 50hrs or max 100hr repair, sorry : mean full disasembly and ship to the manufacturer. If it's not about money and efficiency, ok.
