    STRUTS OR TENSION CABLES?

Dana and Billski, Thanks a lot. That cleared a lot of things. Now the only problem I'm facing is, My wing is BOLTED to boom by 2 brackets (One connects boom to the main spar and other to the auxilary spar). Now If I support my wing by tension cables, is there a possibility that my wing's lateral...

    STRUTS OR TENSION CABLES?

Friends, Hi! It has been a long time since I logged in. I am almost nearing the end of the basic structural design of my ultralight aircraft. It is powered by a 21 horsepower Simonini engine with a 44'' propeller. our wing is 12 feet long(per side) and weighs about 25 kilograms together. The...

@LBarron : Thanks for that link. It was really helpful.

    thrust calculation

Pitch = 24", Cruising speed is somewhere around 100 kmph. I found one more characteristic of propeller on internet called "CF" but was unable to understand its meaning. Please help...

    thrust calculation

I have a rotax 503 engine, with gearbox "B" type...max rpm available at propeller is 3000rpm. propeller diameter is 47''.how do I calculate the thrust?

    Angle of attack problem.

thanks in loads orion and wsimpso1...so the entire funda is proper selection of a cruise speed and then carrying on with AOI calculations...and thank you wsimpso for the graph coordinates...btw the aspect ratio also affects the graph right?how to incorporate that into the linear relationship for...

    Angle of attack problem.

@orion: so to calculate the initial angle of incidence, the cruise speed is required.if i have a range of cruise speeds,i get a range of AOI's right?and to get the right AOI i might even have to test my airfoil in a wind tunnel right? finding a wind tunnel in pune in india is really...

    Angle of attack problem.

@Orion : Thanks. I'll definitely work on it.

    Angle of attack problem.

I have selected a NACA 4412 wing profile for my ultralight aircraft having flying weight 200 kgs powered by a 21 hp simonini engine (Thrust = 80 kg). Wing area = 9.27 sq.m. How do I decide the angle of attack and coefficient of lift ?
  11. hrishikesh

Does lift coefficient depend on airfoil shape ?

I am using a NACA 4412 airfoil with an angle of attack 7 degrees and the lift coeff is 0.35. Suppose I replace it with any other NACA profile at same angle of attack. Will the value of lift coeff change ?
