    There is a British book on LG design that it appears Paz lifted some/most of his book from. What would have been volume 2 is in that book, the name of which escapes me at the moment. I do have a copy at home.

    Sapphire windows are made currently for some specialized optical applications. I used to design optical enclosures that used them, they come in surprisingly large sizes [and costs] , but not quite windshield dimensions yet.
