    Tubing cutting pattern program

    If you are doing tubing repairs or building from scratch, you might find this useful: http://www.geek.casaforge.com/code/cope.pcgi Plug in your sizes, wall thickness, angles, etc., hit calculate and it will draw a pattern that can be printed out in various formats.

    Pietenpol

    I got my checkout in a Pietenpol at Brodhead two weeks ago...the "owner" swung the prop and yelled in my ear "It'll fly at 40!" So much for a check-out...my first open-cockpit, first tailskid, first no brakes, first rudder-bar, etc etc. He was right, it flew at 40. Landed at 40, too. Great fun!

    Cowling material - aluminium

    Any suggestion for a suitable alloy to make cowlings. There is no welding, and all curves are single (i.e. no compound curves) but I do need to roll a bead on one edge, to form a "joggle" to make a flush lap joint with another sheet. If I use 2024T3, will it crack where I need to joggle it...
