To what out-of-production aircraft would you buy the rights, if you wanted to start a 'kit-plane' company?

I thought the rights to the Wing Derringer were owned by someone at our local airfield… They built a 4 seat variant but did no more. Maybe they sold the rights to your guy…

To what out-of-production aircraft would you buy the rights, if you wanted to start a 'kit-plane' company?

Except for this one. Plenty of baggage space! Yes, it has flown as well.

    Oshkosh 2023

I fly all the way from Australia to attend, arrive in the US a week early so I don’t miss anything and catch a dose of Covid on the trip for my efforts! Anyway, I have been undertaking the requisite isolation according to local protocols which will hopefully mean that I can attend starting...

    ME109

Hi Del, thanks for posting those. It looks like a FW190 to me, rather than a BF109 (Me109). Also, it looks like you have a discrepancy between the spelling of the owners name and his email address. You may need to check those to confirm which spelling is correct (Carlton vs Carolton)

Airplane Wanted Need hangar space near Nashville.

A friend of mine has the new large hangar that has gone up at Lebanon. He is finalising the interior and it will be available soon. He is an experimental guy so may be amenable to your aircraft. If you PM me, I can pass you his details.

    DarkAero

As a point of reference and for comparison, the White Lightning has 88 square feet of wing area, a 2400lbs max takeoff weight, 4 seats, cruises at 210+ knots @ 65% power using a 210hp Continental IO-360 and these numbers are proven on multiple airframes. Wing loading is therefore 27 lbs per...

    B-29 Replica Takes Shape

The rear seat looks to be perfectly located for the pilots head to be inside the top turret. My guess is that the top turret might be tinted glass that the rear seat pilot can look out of. This is an absolutely awesome project and is a concept that I have certainly dreamed of in the past. I...

    Lack of twin engine E/ABs

I know that the original 2 seater was a very attractive aircraft. However, the fuselage extension done on this aircraft is also a very attractive modification. You need to see it in person, it looks like a bullet.

    Coolest things at Oshkosh 2022?

Yes, after 4.5 years we are still at it. We are finally making parts now so are making the transition from design to prototyping. Getting custom components made with a short lead time is challenging in todays environment, but we are making steady and tangible progress to getting everything...

    Oshkosh 2022

I was there at 8:30 am yesterday for 10 minutes but I didn’t spot anyone. It’s my first time and maybe I got the wrong spot. Is the get together in the picnic tables on the right hand side of the building as you face the field? Either under the cover or outside on the field side?

    Oshkosh 2022

Ok, I’m going to start by giving my products a plug! Please swing by and visit us in Booth 638 in the Homebuilt Aircraft display area, literally 100 yards from the morning coffee group. TurbAero has our RV7T (turbine) project on display, and Rapture Aircraft has the Turbine Bug.

    Oshkosh 2022

You want photos, so let’s get them started. Here is the site of the early morning HBA get togethers, as of today. Today was a very nice day. Warm but comfortably so. The sun is intense so bring and apply sun screen.

    Continental CD-300 jet A1 motor

The CD300 has a time between REPLACEMENT of 2000 hours (up from 1200 hours 5 days ago) and the gearbox which had a TBR of 600 hours is now on condition.

    White Lightning

Those numbers are interesting. The handbook for the Continental IO-360 shows a power available of around 130hp at 9,000’ DA and 2,400rpm. The performance curves that Nick Jones has for the WL shows that with an assumed prop efficiency of 0.85, the predicted speed for that DA and rpm is 253mph/...

    White Lightning

Back when I was considering buying N25WL myself, I sat in it as a first step. I am 6’1” with a long body. My knees banged against the bottom of the instrument panel and there was no way I was going to close the canopy. My head stuck up 2” above the canopy line which meant that I could close...

    White Lightning

That is fantastic news Marc. I’m pleased that the test flight went off safely and that there are only some relatively minor squawks to address. Once you get checked out, it’d be great for you to post a pilot report here. Could you possibly post a photo or two of N25WL after your restoration...
