    MATCO 8" Pneumatic Tail Wheel

I am looking for an 8" Pneumatic Tail Wheel for my Avid Flyer. I need the complete assembly.

What pitch to use on a 582 3 blade 68" Kiev 2.58 gearbox

I got the engine running today. The wooden propeller from the 532 wouldn't fit, so I started off with my new 68" Kiev three blade propeller. The instructions said that the starting point for a 582 should be 11-14, so I set it at 12. The old 532 Tachometer seems wildly off, so I have connected...

    Swift vs Westach dual EGT

Anyone have any opinions on the swift dual EGT and probes? My Westach had one probe die and during troubleshooting half of the gauge died. I can get a new Swift gauge and probes for just over $100, but the Westach is over $200. Opinions on either or both? TIA

    Matco 8" tailwheel height

Perfect, that was what I needed to see. Thanks.

    Matco 8" tailwheel height

Anyone know that the height of the 8" single yoke tailwheel height is from the ground to the bottom of the spring? The drawings only show me the height from the ground to the top of the bolt, which I am only moderately concerned with. Coming from a 5" tailwheel with a reasonable low profile...

Second Chantz BRS Removal (For sale if you want it)

There are no external indications of what is in it....other than the model "AeroSafe 900". I have tried googling it, but no luck so far.

Second Chantz BRS Removal (For sale if you want it)

Ok, so I got it removed today. Here are some pictures...can anyone tell me anything about it? The name says AeroSafe 900.

Second Chantz BRS Removal (For sale if you want it)

When I was looking it over the other day, here is the picture that I took, so that I had the contact information. Maybe someone can recognize it by its logo.

Second Chantz BRS Removal (For sale if you want it)

From what I have read, if it has a rocket motor in it, you have to have a license to ship it.

Second Chantz BRS Removal (For sale if you want it)

It doesn't look quite like this one....once I get it out I will probably post it with pictures in the for sale section. I am guessing this one is cold, so mine is probably hot. While looking at it in the plane, the only data plate on it said that it was rated for 900 pounds and 125 mph. I...

Second Chantz BRS Removal (For sale if you want it)

My newly acquired aircraft, an Avid Model B, has a Second Chantz BRS installed that is rated for 900lbs; I could not find a date on the device, but I would presume that it would need a new rocket motor and re-pack. Since this device obviously has some pretty nasty pyro in it, I just thought I...

Second Chantz Recovery Chute or just air rocket

I know this thread is old, but my newly acquired Avid Flyer has a SecondChantz that is rated at 900lbs. I haven't removed it yet, but if anyone wants it make me an offer. If you want it with the rocket motor in it, you need to pick it up or help me figure out how to ship it. Everything that I...

Avid Flyer B model with old 503

Appreciate it...just ordered me a 582 with 8 hours and new seals in it and a Kiev 3 blade ground adjustable prop...so I guess I made my decision

Avid Flyer B model with old 503

I signed up for an account with them on Saturday and verified my email address. Still waiting for them to approve my account so that I can post. Sent them an email using their "Contact" link this morning, but still waiting. If you have friends over there...you think you could ask them to bump...

Avid Flyer B model with old 503

Preferred, a 912, would be expensive and may not be feasible on the aircraft. On the other hand, there was a 582 with 12 hours on it that came up on Barnstormers a couple of days ago for $2,000, but someone else beat me to it. A 582 transition may be somewhat economical, but what I don't know...

Avid Flyer B model with old 503

I have them on the list, as well as the guys up in Oregon. SMLA, was quoting a rate of $2,200+ for a 503, when I was looking at another aircraft. But once again, I am left with an engine with a huge hole in its maintenance history.

Avid Flyer B model with old 503

None that I, or the FAA, know of. Rick was one of my thoughts as well, but a 503, for basically a 0 time overhaul, is over $2,000 and I still have a non-DCDI, points ignition with a big hole in the history. This very well may turn out to be a 532, as earlier suggested, which may be even more...

Avid Flyer B model with old 503

We ran it for a few minutes while I was there. The person who currently has it has never flown it, but assured me that he has been ground running it at least monthly. He also mentioned, and I witnessed, that it is a cold natured on start. If I had some sort of history on the engine, I would...
