    This is Ken Welters Coot he runs cog belt 2.95 to 1 in the Coot you could take it up to 1.7 to 1 (the Coot is needing alot of torque to get it out of the water) the cog belt is the same thing they use for nitro funny cars that have 6000hp

    The wankel rotary will run on 100LL but after 10-20 hrs of running you will need to change or clean the plugs that is the only problem you will not be restricted on the octane it will run on any thing just not heavy fuels

    Sorry I have not check the posts lately question was how much horsepower can a Welter PSRU take I would be safe in saying 10,000 rpm at 350 plus horsepower Ken bulit one for me with a 2.95 to 1 with a Wankel rotary 13b it cruised at about 6500 rpm(motor)this is 2200 prop speed

    I have flown a cog belt rotary and and a regular direct drive aircraft motor (sisterships)and I can tell you that the rotary was alot smoother running. As for a cog belt psru and runtime Ken Welter puts about 200 hrs on the belt and installs a new one. The belt does help dampen the pulsation...
