    Verhees Delta

I am wondering what it's glide ratio is and I maybe wrong, but it seems to me that you would need to maintain a reasonably high airspeed to prevent the nose dropping in the glide??? I know next to nothing about deltas btw.

Internal Ducting in a Delta Airship

Both reasons are why airships have remained cigar shaped. Although any large aircraft is susceptible to unequal aerodynamic forces, refer to: The Shenandoah and the Akron.

Internal Ducting in a Delta Airship

Yes I remember this idea (and others) for a "metalclad" ship, and steam for the return journey was a very feasible option, pity that it never got off the drawing board.

Internal Ducting in a Delta Airship

You have reminded me of a similar idea I had over 30 years ago. The idea was that external ducting, or possibly bleeding air through a dual skin on all surfaces might reduce skin friction in flight. A large bladed blower on the nose might also help suck the airship forward, I guess lack of...

Internal Ducting in a Delta Airship

Myself and a couple of colleagues investigated this concept in 1986 I believe, well before Dyson. The two main issues were excessive weight and lack of available power. It's a great concept all the same.

Internal Ducting in a Delta Airship

I know a lot about airships and airship design. Internal ducting is an old idea and the reason it has never been pursued is that it is very inefficient, the surface friction and internal drag alone rules this idea out from the getgo, not to mention the weight penalty even if the ducting can...

    Another Airbus 320 down

Yes indeed, especially if the viewpoint was to the rear or underside of the aircraft.

    Another Airbus 320 down

Yes you may be right, I think it's best to refrain from speculation at this point in time especially if any such speculation is based on unverified information. In years gone by I was an accident investigator with New Zealand CAA and was taught never to draw any conclusions unless based on hard...

    Verhees Delta brain fart

Perhaps he would sell the prototype, we could then remodel and refine it's structure and surface to produce a more aerodynamic craft. Are Mr. Verhees's contact details available?

    Verhees Delta brain fart

I would contribute 100euro toward a set of plans.

    Verhees Delta brain fart

That's very strange, why would he not answer that question? Yes I would be into designing our own deltas.
