Can Dihedral wing Angle negate the need for Ailerons

Hi While I have no experience sitting in a dihedral wing air plane, I have flown RC models built that way. What rolls a plane like that is rudder. A turn is started by rudder. the plane rolls into a turn easily with rudder only input. Dennis

    Drill sizes

Don't waste your money on a drill doctor. The plastic bit wear out too quickly. Better to order in the bits you need in quantity to save on shipping. Quality cobalt drill bits last a long time. Stoning the sharp edge off helps prevent "Dig in" You need to experiment a bit to find the best edge...

    Roller Painting for Metal Aircraft

Hi A number of years ago I rolled on some marine enamel. Thinned and tipped off directly after rolling. Tipping is done with a good brush. the finish was like it was sprayed on. As I got down to less than 1/4 gallon the paint needed more thinner added. You could tell the tipping was not going...

Scrappy’s Landing Gear Wings - Yay or Nay?

Actual flying will tell. I do think given the drag of the bare gear compared to the wing gear. The only way to tell for sure is to fly it both ways. Dennis

    Carburation on overrun

The AR 5 designer pilot found with his 582 that on descents with the throttle closed his engin would run hot. His solution was a hand primer pump to put additional fuel into the engine. Apparently the idle lean condition was the fault he could not correct in carb adjustments. THe AR5 was a...

All-moving tail surfaces on pivoting, tubular spars

Years ago I flew a prototype ultra lite wit an all flying elevator. The designer missed the design a bit. The control stick forces were so light as to be non existent. The pivot point was too close to the center and no travel stops Absolutely could not fly hands off. SCARY Dennis

4500rpm propeller to negate the PSRU

Look up an F1oo with a turbo prop in the nose. It was supposed to be painfully loud. I am not sure which F number was the base plane. When the prop tips exceed the speed of sound you get a lot of noise. Dennis

I have been biten again by the tsetse fly

Hi I believe Edwards as in Edwards AFB died attempting a stall in a Northrup wing. Stalling a flying wing or a delta should not be done. In a wing the CG location is critical. The new flying wing aircraft are prevented from getting close to a stall by the flight computers Dennis

    EMG 6 Ultralight Motorglider

Thanks I did not dig deep enough to look at the drawings. It looks like a CNC machine will be needed to make some of the parts. Dennis

    EMG 6 Ultralight Motorglider

How about a link to the plans? I have thought a primary glider would be fun. Light and simple to build. should match a super floater for just plunking around the airport. Dennis

I had a 1200 bandit here in Florida. I can't say it handled heat very well. No scientific evidence jut a ride into Orlando on a very hot day. Dennis
