    Ridge Runner 1?

I'll be interested to see how the performance of the Ridge Runner compares to your Highlander. I didnt opt for the extended wings, so mine will be a little shorter but otherwise identical to the Highander. At 450lb or so, I expect some good performance.

Hi Gary. They took a lot of time with me, and we came away with 2 very different opinions of there customer service. What model are you building? Did you buy your kit from Stace?

    Ridge Runner 1?

I talked with Stace today. He said that there was a model 1 built with a half VW that came in just over 265lb. He was confident that a careful builder could shave off the 11 or so necessary pounds. Worst case leave the door and windows off. If you did that, I would have them build both sides...

What is the installed weight of the engine you are thinking of? I have seen the weight of a half VW estimated at 85lb without electric start. Going off the attached picture, this seems comparable to the 2 stroke weights. Next time I talk with Stace I will ask him.

The models are a little confusing. The pic in post 54 is the original model 3. The current "model 3" they build is really a model 3s. The main difference in appearance is the squared off turtle deck. It gives it more of a baby Supercub look. A key functional difference is the 3s has dual controls.

If money was no object, I would go with the HKS 700t. I'll proably end up with either the 700e, 582, or 503. Stace has been working on a custom cowl for a customer that has a 670 mounted up.

I have one of these I will be using. Shop Online | Power Drives, Inc It is fairly fast, light, and the 75lbs of force I believe will be suffient. Others have ran it in the Rans S7 and been pleased with the resaults. You can get it without the potentiometer, but I want to use this controller...

    Ridge Runner 1?

I am going to guess a set of tanks from an older kitfox or Avid. It looks like the spar was cut and left attached. Even some of the newer fiberglass tanks have had some ethonal issues, though I would imagine these issues have been worked out by now. I prefer the poly tanks. Ethonal proof, no...

    Ridge Runner 1?

To steer the thread back on course... I know several years ago Stace and his wife were involved in a nearly fatal car accident that set the company back. Stace and Andrew are honest people with a good product, and I want to see them succeed in a tough market. Stace has spent hours talking with...

    Ridge Runner 1?

doc_dyer, was your question for me? I have enjoyed your build pics on the Yahoo group. Most of them I have saved to a folder on my desktop. I am not the welder you are, so I had to have the factory make the changes I wanted done. I like the way you did your electric trim. I never thought to...

    Ridge Runner 1?

Hi PalawanPilot. I have enjoyed your videos on YouTube. Soon I will be taking delivery of a RR3s kit, and I hope live up to the workmanship example set by your airplane. Andrew has sent me pictures of a few mods I had him make that turned out great. They have always gotten back to me in a timely...
