    Racing engines

    There a lot of opinions and things to consider but my thoughts.... When you use a auto engine, the thing to remember is they are designed for stop & go not full power for long periods of time no matter how detuned you go. Also weight most are heavy... You mentioned BMW and the problem I run into...

    wow!!! that's really good news... then my weight and balance is going to be even better than i had expected, leaving alot more that i can do with interior like very custom seats and passenger avionics to make up for the loss to the front of the plane... thx

    The reason im am even asking is the last project i didnt even use the same engine, the engine i am asking about is an old geared motor and i have to assume that geared motors are heavier. I looked for the information in as many places as i could, Im not going to come onto a website and pretend...

    Well that just threw a wrench in the mix!!! So there is multiple ways to get this done right? If not then I'm back to my original question... What calculations or factors determin what way to do this?? Torque, engine hp.... What factor determin?

    I need to know the total weight of IGSO-540, with full feathering hydraulic prop, cowlings... everything in front of the wing. I cant find this information anywhere. If anyone has some in site that would be great.

    That is the first Wikipedia information i checked out, i guess the more in depth question i should have asked is with the torque of the engine one direction is there a better way to spin the prop... and what differences if any to the side of the aircraft they are on? i hope i am asking that...

    I am working on a twin project and i would like to get some feedback on many aspects on the design... one question i have is should i spin the props opposite or the same? that leads to the next question.... do i run the engine with a reverse cam or change the direction of the gear drive? thanks...
