Tell us what you are building!

Hi all, Feeling a bit "left behind", as I have not actually received my 'kit' yet, but I will soon (hopefully) have a Merlin PSA delivered to me downunder, which I intend to spend every spare moment thereafter building to completion. The attached is my little baby bird nearing the end of it's...

Hey folks, the selling agent has told me that while no one else has attempted to make the flaps actuated electrically to date, another builder in he US has somehow attached small gears and a sensor to the existing flap actuation tube, so that the flap position is displayed on his EFIS - now that...

I know your pain ... so close yet so far. 😭 I'm sure I'll be calling out for help - I'll keep in touch, many thanks.

    Who do I call?

Sounds fair enough. I'm just looking forward to the build, and once its flying, operating it as safely and enjoyably as possible.

    Wollongong (northern suburbs).

    Who do I call?

I can understand what you mean. Electric flaps can be left on purposely, or forgotten pretty easily with not-too-pleasant consequences. Certainly harder to forget a big stick-like handle hanging just near your left ear.

    Who do I call?

It had to happen eventually. At least no one told me to checkout Ghostbusters Engineering, or something similar. I have to say, I'm picking up on the passion that you folk have towards manual flaps, especially comparing it to "feeling" a car through its steering wheel, which is how I taught my...

Sounds like a plan ... now to find out if TAFE NSW do anything like this anymore???

    Who do I call?

I'm liking the idea of giving the manual flaps 12 months worth of trial before making a final decision. I can sense the support for manual flaps is very strong and backed by experience, which is what I lack, so that's what I'll do - give the manual flaps a go. If after 12 months I don't like...

Hi John, The 'kit' still comes partially constructed. In fact, the first part of the built is to take parts of the skin off so you can get into the guts of the fuselage and wings to complete wiring and the rest. There is room for some mods and you can pick and choose what components you want to...

    Who do I call?

I will be building an Aeromarine, Merlin PSA (E/A-B LSA). The stock kit comes with a fairly large stick-like handle above the pilot's left ear in the cabin to operate the flaps at the appropriate angle for the phase of flight. I would basically like to motorise this operation (electrically) to a...

Thanks Bill. I'll look around to see whether there is something similar in my area here in Australia. Cheers.

Many thanks to you all, I'm off to the local scrap yard to do some dumpster diving for trial and training treasures. Much appreciated.

    Who do I call?

Hi all, The kit I have purchased comes standard with manual flaps, which are actuated via a large handle on the upper left side of the cockpit. I would very much like to automate the flaps, but don't have the first idea of who could help me design (and possibly build) the system to achieve...

Look out below! New builder on the block.

Hey all, I've recently purchased a Merlin PSA, a single seat E/A-B LSA kit from Aeromarine in the US. It will be a first of type for here in Australia, and my first aircraft build, so I'm going to need all the "tips & tricks"" I can get. Gradually getting my toolkit together and would...
