Harbor Freight Predator 670 V-Twin Horsepower tests

I have instructions somewhere on an adjustable mixture for a mikuni carb. What they did on that one is jet the main rich and introduce adjustable air closer to the cylinder to lean it. The thought is that it maybe be less likely to lean too much by accident since default is rich.

Harbor Freight Predator 670 V-Twin Horsepower tests

I am watching your research intently. Self powered is better if timing advance and trigger can be worked out in a light weight package.

Harbor Freight Predator 670 V-Twin Horsepower tests

Yes the flywheels are heavier than optimum. I think the ignition will need a 12 volt battery since the pickups look way to small to generate the needed current.

Have you seen this ignition made for the predator 670. https://performancemad.com/product/electronic-trigger-ignition-out-of-stock/

½ VW Question (actually a complete question about a ½ VW engine)

If I understand right you are looking for everything required to run the engine is that right? Like a firewall forward weight as opposed to just engine weight?

    Formula-I?

Are all these foils the same lift coefficient?

Harbor Freight Predator 670 V-Twin Horsepower tests

hmmmm.... Just thought it needs a beefed up crank for direct drive and tried to illustrate one way to do that.

Harbor Freight Predator 670 V-Twin Horsepower tests

No weight calculated. Someone with the math skills to perform some calculations on how much steel needs to be added to comfortably handle prop gyro loads and how much bearing area is really needed before final design and weights. Very rough drawing just to illustrate the concept.

Harbor Freight Predator 670 V-Twin Horsepower tests

For a direct drive I wonder if something like this could be engineered to take most of the prop loads. The Ball bearing would be removed and a aluminum plain bearing hub installed bolted to the front cover 5" bolt circle. The prop hub would sleeve the crank all the way to the timing gear. The...

    Formula-I?

I wonder if more investigation is due on who actual engine manufacturers are. For instance Predator I don't believe is an engine manufacturer but rather rebranding. Not sure if it is a Loncin or Lifan or Zongshen or who knows and this may vary between small engine and bigger ones within the...

Harbor Freight Predator 670 V-Twin Horsepower tests

Plenty of throttle bodies from motorcycles that are smaller also with injectors in them. What is the downside to throttle body injection?

Harbor Freight Predator 670 V-Twin Horsepower tests

Fly Henry is the company I would use they already have working solutions for full engine management or stand alone ignition. Very low current draw. Forgot to mention they are used and were developed for flying engines in Paragliders and trikes...

Harbor Freight Predator 670 V-Twin Horsepower tests

Right my thought was to see if a mild super charge might allow the hp needed at lower rpm. Exchange the redrive for a direct drive super charger it may save weight. What about using the cooling fan that comes with it as a mild super charge? Probably would need a better enclosure (shroud)...

Harbor Freight Predator 670 V-Twin Horsepower tests

I wonder if a small super charger could get you there (to 277 Rotax power) direct drive?
  18. P

    Formula-I?

I am sure this has been mentioned here but from my perspective direct drive is the best way. Keeping it simple just a max displacement with no over boring so needs to be original displacement. I think a third bearing that takes the majority of the prop side loads would help a lot with safety...

50 HP 5 CYLINDER RADIAL WITH PREDATOR HEAD/CYLINDERS

At first I didn't get it that you were writing about a 2 row radial but it finally clicked... I did a lot of different configurations and various cylinder sizes looking at power to weight and also engine compartment size. The winner by far is the X4 below and so much simpler that the typical...

50 HP 5 CYLINDER RADIAL WITH PREDATOR HEAD/CYLINDERS

but straight out the back of the cylinder there is another cylinder to go around with the exhaust. Were you thinking exhaust could exit between cylinder bank 1 & 2 and "y" in on the way to the back of the engine?
