    A pilot’s fateful, career-altering flight under Michigan’s Mackinac Bridge

I forgot about the FBO ! I was told on a nice spring weekend there could be 100+ planes in the pattern I learned to use the short strip 22/04 to reduce hassle and wasted time . Of course, the best way to circumvent this particular problem was to leave early and come back late .

    A pilot’s fateful, career-altering flight under Michigan’s Mackinac Bridge

I spent a few hundred hours working on my commercial there. With TWO flight schools there I think the temptation was strong . I can’t SAY I saw anyone fly through the arch but I do remember watching another student remove duct tape from the numbers area of a plane and thinking that was a...

    KleinVision AirCar

They promise city sky’s congested with this thing……. The problem there would be more air traffic control than a flying car.

    KleinVision AirCar

“The year before, the record-breaking vehicle had become the first flying car to complete an intercity flight.” Could that possibly be true ?

    Passive Variable Pitch Propeller

Lol thousands of pilots make choices before flight and live with them. They’re called fixed pitch propellers. The Aeromatic has two setting, so it’s gonna be at least twice that good ! By the way, the Aeromatic can be set for exactly what you described 2200 RPM at wide-open throttle and part...

    Passive Variable Pitch Propeller

Nooooooooo It does not take the freedom of choice from him ,it gives him a second choice that he makes before flight. The Aeromatic is adjustable before flight and then operates like a two speed automatic transmission.

    USAF, USN, USMC, USA picklesuits

I never really understood the you can’t be a pilot with glasses, when almost every pilot I ever saw it was wearing sunglasses……

    Turbo-normaliser question

I remember running oil lines was a huge problem, but I didn’t realize that it was actually cooling the turbo. It seems like it oilless turbo would’ve been a godsend.

    USAF, USN, USMC, USA picklesuits

The sweet little old lady that lived next-door to us, used to let me pick mulberry from her trees in the yard. Just a full few days before we left for Alaska when she found out that we were driving the alcan, she mentioned that she had never got to see the whole road. When I asked her how she...

    Turbo-normaliser question

Lol I certainly understand the long pipe problems. That’s the reason my original turbo charger was behind the rear bumpers. Of course I was seeking gains in the 1500-2500 rpm with the 1500 being the most desired power

    Turbo-normaliser question

    Isn’t that aviation rule #1 ?

I don’t think I had ever heard the term pickle suit but as soon as I did, I knew exactly what it was !

    Turbo-normaliser question

So really there’s no problem all with resonant tuning except for your own biases? To illustrate let me explain to you that the last turbo I put was on a tri wye header system on a six cylinder Ford 3/4 ton with the turbo behind the rear bumper. It pulled hard and got 23 miles per gallon on the...

    Turbo-normaliser question

Wait a minute I thought the whole point of a turbo charger what is that the power came from pixie dust . We called that pixie dust heat recovery? Have I been lied to all this time?
