    Agreed! When (if) they actually get it airborne, it will be a small flying machine, not a car. Bumpers, passenger compartment reinforcement, etc, etc. safety regulations for cars will inflate the weight far beyond their dream.

    The speed differential could present a problem, but I have seen the hydrofoils in very busy ports like Hong Kong and they seem to operate safely. They just stay slow when close in or near other boats, but really open it up once they reach open water.
