Previously, I had an ancient version of XFLR5 which worked OK.

I had built up a nice library of airfoils and projects. One was an airfoil comparison project, where I could select and compare the polars of different foils.

Well, a new version came out, and I wanted to avail myself of some of the new capabilities so I decided to upgrade.

The new version did not work. The developer even sent me a debug version to allow him to discover the problem. It worked for a while and then quite working. So in a fit of frustration I deleted everything and started over with the latest version. That still did not work.

Then I remembered something the developer mentioned. I am currently running Windows 7 on my laptop, which has an original Intel processor. I also have an old desktop here that I use as a file backup server. It is running Windows Vista on an AMD chip, so I installed XFLR5 on it. It seems to run fine.

Now I have to start over building up my foil database and projects, including the XFLR5 model of my current build project:dis:.

Has anyone else had similar 'fun' running XFLR5?

By the way, has anyone thought of creating a forum for HBA software discussion?
