I'm new to the sport. Just bought plans for skypup and im trying to get my ducks in a row before i take it out.

ive been trying but i cant think of a good place to test out the aircraft. I do have access to farm land that family/friends own. A friend of my mothers ex-husband has a private landing strip and kit plane but would kind of be weird asking him out of the blue. Im not sure how big the piece of land im looking for either. Does anybody know of public/private strips or state land in michigan id be able to use?

thank you.
