The post about alcohol in fuel tanks MOGAS in Fiberglass Fuel Tanks
Specifically starting at post #65 got me curious about the welding process for fabricating (as opposed to repairing) plastics including perhaps fuel tanks out of HDPE. (Or UHMW if that was thought better. )

This post is not about re-hashing the suitability question, but about the welding process.

Does anyone weld such materials? Are the cheap hot air guns viable? What tips should it include specifically for welding sheets together structurally? What would you consider minimum kit to weld up through maybe 10 mm thickness? Good source of quality supplies (rod, tips, etc)

Thank you.
