Yes, i searched, but-

I am looking to resume my flight training and have been considering the options. I feel like I have had enough of the flight schools, and am considering purchasing a suitable trainer- some variant of 150/172 or Cherokee most likely- and then hire an instructor. This seems like it saves me a bit of money overall, along with having more control over when I am able to fly. The second major complaint after the instructor shenanigans I had with flight schools was not the cost, it was the fact that to fly three times a week I had to schedule 6 times a week and HOPE a plane was available. As I get closer to finishing the Sonerai and the Taylorcraft, both of which are still far enough out that I should be able to finish my flight training, get some hours under my belt, then get my Tailwheel endorsement.
So this begs the question-

Who are the go to folks to finance an airplane? What sort of service should I expect? Anyone care to share thier experience doing this? What are the pitfalls a first time airplane buyer might fall into?
