After working in the industry a bit, seeing some of the "new tech" (aka. vaporware), and noodling on things, I think I have a new concept in mind that would be able to deliver the power of a 540 in the package size and weight of a 360 and with better efficiency to boot. TBO would be somewhere around the 2000-hour range, so it's not going to fall apart every 10 minutes. (It could make more power if a lower TBO was acceptable). The basic layout would be a 4-cylinder with a built-in PSRU. For obvious reasons, I can't go into details of exactly how, but I am just trying to understand if there would be a real market to make developing this idea worthwhile or if it would just be shunned because it'd be from a new supplier.
For a reference point, the design would be under less stress than even a 915 IS, so durability is definitely achievable.
Edit: Also, the intention is to run this on Jet A, not AVGAS or MOGAS.

I've been working on and building engines for most of my life and have been a design engineer for the last 6 years with a focus on aero engine design for the past 3. I've been watching the market, hoping for a truly viable and efficient option for a while now, and feel like there is a potential need for said engine based on my own interests and what I haven't been able to find. I have a connection that could machine every single part of these engines if needed and have a decent background in engine controls and access to people that know far more than I do about all of the specifics involved with this design.
