Hi folks -
I have asked this question on other forums and sites and in person sitting around the pilot's lounge and I get answers like "You really need to get some dual instruction before you try", and "Just don't stop flying the airplane until the engine stops turning", and "You gotta keep dancing on the pedals" and other, what sound like accepted adages but, no real answer. So I'll try here... The question is -
What is so different about flying conventional gear airplanes versus tricycle gear. I know that some pull to the left is expected as the tail lifts due to the gyro effect but, what else should I be on the lookout for? Can I learn to handle a tail dragger by starting off with slow taxi and gradually increase the speed until I can handle it at take off speed? What can I expect on landing?
Everyone who has had any esperience, please jump in here. I expect it is different because a separate sign off is required but how different and what is different...?????
