I was reading up about the history of Rutan's pusher design configuration, from the Variviggen to the VariEze, to the LongEze, to the Cozy / Velocity. It seems like a configuration that had lots of growth potential, going from a 1 person to a 4 person plane.
I think the tandem wing setup of the Quickie and Q2 are pretty cool, with good performance. Was there anything fundamental about the configuration that prevented it from growing into a 4 person plane? I've heard that the original fiberglass spars had enough flex during landing that a prop strike could happen, but was mitigated with carbon fiber spars. Were there other reasons as well?
