I recall, maybe wrongly, that back in the 90's when the Zenith 601 first came out, it didn't use a conventional hinge for the ailerons, but simply continued the top surface aluminum wing skin all the way back into the aileron (as the top surface aileron skin), and used the flexibility of that skin as the hinge. Am I having an acid flashback, or is that correct? What happened to it - all the 601's I see have conventional hinges. Seems like a great way to save weight, complexity and time.
