In the link below is a fascinating insight into Sandy Munro's project aircraft that didn't go forward, which had lineage to the RC-3 Seabees design methodology. Immic Republic Aircraft had a record low number of man hours of 283 hrs per Seabee manufactured.

If you don’t know of Sandy and his company Munro and Associates, they do competitive analysis of automobiles and design work in many fields. I think it would be fair to say they have an interest in low parts count, simplicity, and the cost reduction therein.

Sandy has garnered quite the YouTube audience with their analysis of vehicles in the EV space.
