I am 10 years into building a full scale Supermarine Spitfire Mark 1 of steel (4130) and carbon fibre composite. It has a steel fuselage with carbon fibre skins, all carbon fibre wings and empennage. It is powered with a Merlin big block 540 with a 2 bladed wooden prop. Nearing completion with cockpit instruments, electrical wiring and engine plumbing to go. Being half the weight of the original with the smaller motor it will have similar performance to the original.
