Raymer says that "sometimes it is necessary to vary the shape of the cross sections other than scaling. Flat wrap cannot be exactly maintained in such cases using conics. A more sophisticated technique (beyond the scope of this book) must be used."

What technique is he referring to? And where can I read more about it?
