Hi,
I’m designing a radio controlled fixed wing plane with A=2 and Re=0.33 million. This fixed wing plane will have fixed slat and flap as the high lift devices. I’m trying to choose suitable slat and flap type to generate high lift without increasing too much drag. There are some retractable slat and flap widely used in GA. But I don’t need them to be retractable. My slat and flap will be fixed. So those retractable devices look not to be the optimum option for my application. Then the auxiliary airfoil and external flap (figures attached below) come into my eye, because their shapes are not constrained for being retractable. In order to verify this speculation, I tried to find paper containing some performance comparisons between fixed auxiliary airfoil and other kinds of slat and also performance comparisons between external flap and other kinds of flap. But I didn’t find out any paper on that. I only got several papers from NACA discussing how to design fixed auxiliary airfoil and external flap. I need the direct comparisons.
Could anyone help on providing any information or comments on fixed auxiliary airfoil v.s. other slats or external flap v.s. other flaps?
