Probably a stupid question, but...

i need to replace the induction and cylinder oil drain hoses on my O-290-D. Aircraft Spruce carries both, of course. However, the oil drain hose is $8.50 for a piece of 3/8" hose under 2" long ($10.75 for the "official" Lycoming part)! Is there any reason I shouldn't simply cut a length of MIL-D-6000-6 hose which is under $10/ft?

For the larger induction hoses I'll buy the pieces as the cost is almost exactly the same and I don't have to worry about cutting the larger hose straight.
