I suspect flying on pedal power is probably a deep-rooted fantasy for a lot of us but we’re also aware of just how hard it is so we do other things instead. That‘s fine, can’t do everything, priorities are important. I get it. However, I can’t help but wonder if there’s some way for the ordinary guy to pedal his way to flight, even if there are some cheats involved to get there.

I have some thoughts on this but want to leave it open-ended for now and I turn it over to the forum brain trust with the following requirements to be met:
-must be buildable by a person of ordinary means in an ordinary workshop
-must be human-powered and I think winch or bungee assistance feels like cheating
-human power plant shall be average and not a top athlete
-must be flyable outdoors in normal calm sunrise/sunset-type conditions
-must be capable of sustained flight, let’s say at least 120 feet distance to match the Wright Brothers
-must be recoverable after the flight to be immediately used again

How would you do it?
