I am new to this group. I am currently working on an Aerosport Quail single place built from an old set of plans. I bought the project from a previous builder who had accumulated a lot of the metal and some of the machined hardware is completed. However, very little had actually been built. The main wing spars were started but not completed as well. The rear spars are typical u channels made from .040. The plans call for them to be 132" long. For some reason, perhaps because he had them formed by someone that did not have a 12' brake, they are each in two pieces of roughly half of the required length. I am assuming that he intended to splice them together to get the required length. What would be the best way of doing this? I have a couple of ideas but could use the wisdom of others with more experience. Other than a CGS Hawk that I rebuilt and registered E-LSA and a start on a Sonerai 2, I have little experience with aircraft structures first hand. I do read a lot and talk to other builders. Any advice would be appreciated.
