I was reading the original Osprey 1 Sport Aviation archive around 1969.
George the designer, said it was a hoot to fly rivers and sloughs on step and pop up over boats and bridges. Flying low is fun and relatively safe over water.
The Osprey was 600 pounds and George said it was overpowered with C-90.
How about a 300 pound VW version? (ICON is too heavy and completely missed the jet ski of the air concept of single seat and open cockpit, I think)

The Osprey 1 wing fold was very interesting in that main spar bolts are not removed. I couldn't figure it out from article photos. Can anyone explain the unique wing fold?

Are there any other small seaplanes like a lighter Osprey?
