I am designing a fowler flap actuating mechanism and the throw is very long; greater than 10". I am a bit uneasy having the horn directly attached to the torque tube and thinking about using geared boxes. The torque tube will be connected to the geared boxes and the horns are connected to the geared boxes output. To actuate the flap, one has to rotate the torque tube multiple times. Also, since the torque tube is not directly connected to the horns, a smaller one can be used. Is this viable?
