I've heard it said that draggy airframes need a larger prop for more efficiency and that VW engines can't turn a large prop. What I don't understand is what statistic or characteristic allows an engine to turn a larger prop. Can two engines which make the same horsepower have different prop capabilities? Does it bear some relationship to the rpm at which that horsepower is made? If I wanted to learn more about this, what search terms am I using to find good explanations about this on the net?
