Has anyone noticed the emphasis that the FAA (or other govt agencies) is giving to approving operation of drones in US Airspace? I for one am concerned that drone operation will cause accidents and midair collisions are most often fatal. I had occasion to encounter a drone aircraft along my route of flight and ATC issued me traffic information regarding the drone. I never saw the drone at 4500 ft until it had crossed my path maybe 200 feet below me. I can’t imagine what could have happened when flying a non transponder aircraft and not talking to ATC. These unmanned aircraft are very difficult to see and without a transponder (non electrical system aircraft) it would be next to impossible for ATC or other agency in control of the drone to avoid a collision. This scares me – does it not you?
