Although I'm a ways away from needing a stick grip I've been thinking about what i want and been browsing what is available and haven't found anything that really tickles my fancy. So I decided that I'm going to fabricate my own.

The basis of the design will be the Microsoft Sidewinder II joystick.

I really like the ergonomics and the general look, but it looks more like something in a 5th gen fighter or maybe a starfighter design not a WWII wannabe like my plane is going to be. I would also like to customize the buttons for my aircraft and have limited HOTAS but I doubt I'll need all the buttons on the game controller.

First I'm going to wrap the joystick in saran wrap and pull a mold off it. Then I'll make a male mold from that and start reshaping to my preference. Obviously provisions will be made for secure attachment to the stick.

Part of the purpose of this thread is to get info on what is possible.

I will definitely have PTT and depending on wether or not I use a servo or bowden cable for elevator trim I might have a switch for that.

The only 2 other controls that I can think of (some might get integrated into the throttle) are radio tuning and heading bug adjust on the ahrs.

So that begs the question: Are there radios that can be tuned remotely, and if any of the glass cockpit packages are so equipped?
