If there's room to dimple the outer layer with a large rivet dimpler, and slightly countersink the inner layer, is that good enough to be considered roughly structurally equivalent, or do I need to go with thicker outer skin that I can countersink without bending/forming? It's a three-panel sandwich, as in, tank cover panel skin, wing skin, then spar cap with a row of captive nuts on the other side.
