Hi,
Can someone give me a ballpark comparison/pros and cons/etc of building materials?
e.g "Wood is light but weaker but easier to work with and metal is strong but harder to work with" etc etc.
I can only use my common sense to reckon these but I know there are a billion things that I don't know about what handles stresses and bang-for-buck what might be the ups and downs of each, but I'd like to hear it from seasoned professionals.
I'm interested in learning about how an aircraft might end up differently if you replaced a wooden frame with say welded metal tube with doped fabric or a fully-made up composite fuselage (e.g. Jabiru etc.)
Any thoughts?
